Interview with Pájaro Sin Alas
Interview by Natalia Rocafuerte
Pájaro Sin Alas is the project of Rodolfo Ramos Castro, songwriter and producer from the border, Ciudad Juárez. From almost a decade ago he has been doin music that has reached critical acclaim while maintaining an underground status and low profile. His music encompasses a wide range of rhythms and genres, so it's safe to say Pájaro Sin Alas has created his own sound and aesthetic, based on the border way of life and the experience of the global South, spoken through poetry and other lyrical experiments
How is winter going, where are you located?
I live in Ciudad Juarez, a city which has a very extreme weather; we have cold temperatures already, so I'm just staying home with my girlfriend, gettin warm, listenin music, watchin movies, makin beats.
How did you create this piece?
I made the beat after being just jammin and cuttin samples; I liked the project so I decided to work on it, then started to write the lyrics. My hommie, Jesús A. Rodríguez said it was a very good song and we talked about shooting a video, so we traveled to New Mexico to make it happen. It was a very funny trip and interesting experience.
What drives your experimental work?
I create inspired by the music that I listen to. I like to create, on my own and with my friends. Since a kid I've always loved the psychedelic, experimental, dreamy music from all decades so I guess it reflects heavily on my songs.
Would you care to share your last dream?
I was just drivin in the highway at dawn, i dont know what that means but I liked how the landscapes looked. I was with my girlfriend who I love.
